ALFRED WATKINS SIGHTING POINTs
Alfred Watkins has become an internationally celebrated figure, many years after his death, because of his theories about 'lines of sight' joining prominent geographical and historical features in the landscape. These are now called 'ley lines' by many people. He propounded his theories in his book The Old Straight Track, published in 1925. You can download a copy of it here. There are a number of examples in the book of his postulated 'sighting lines' marked on Ordnance Survey maps of the period - see the one for Radnor Vale to the left. This section will contain examples found in the Woolhope Club archives.
