Where Librarians Opening Hours Borrowing Books Manuscripts Journals in the Library Home
The Woolhope Library is on the first floor of Hereford Library off the stairs to the Museum, in the Woolhope Room.
The two librarians are Jacqueline Jonson (01432 840694) and Gwilym Rees (01568 615674). They are in the library on Thursdays.
The library is open to the general public on Thursdays between 11.00 a.m. and 14.30 p.m. when the two librarians are in attendance. Members may use the library and borrow books any time during Hereford Library opening hours, so long as the Woolhope Room is not being used by the Museum or other organisations. There is a diary in the cabinet by the door showing when the room is booked.
The Library holds a good selection of local and national history books, stored in locked glass fronted cabinets. They are all listed in the library catalogue, which consists of a card index of author and subject.
Only Woolhope members can borrow books. Books can be borrowed for six months. To borrow write your name and book details in the booking out ledger. On Thursdays this will be in the Woolhope Library, on other days it is with the Public Reference Librarian, along with the keys to the Woolhope Room. On any day other than Thursday you must collect the loaning book and keys from the Reference Librarian and return them afterwards.
The Woolhope Club holds a number of early manuscripts. They are listed in their own section in the catalogue and stored in boxes. They may only be consulted when the librarians are in attendance (on Thursdays) or by prior arrangement with the librarians.
