Two sherds recorded in 1985 contained a large quantity of quartz from less than 0.01mm to 0.3mm. Also scattered ironstone fragments. Both sherds were from late 12th century contexts, but the pottery is dated at Winchester from the mid 10th to end of the 11th century (Vince, 1985, p59). No sherds of E8 were recorded in Hereford Excavations Volume 4.
Most common form is a glazed pitcher.
