Occasional large angular sandstone fragments and rounded clay pellets up to 7mm are found in a matrix of anisotropic clay (light reflects differently under polarising microscope) containing a large quantity of angular quartz and white mica, mainly less than 0.1mm. A few rounded fragments of quartz, sandstone and felspar up to 0.1mm occur. The presence of the large sandstone and clay pellet inclusions make this fabric quite distinctive. Similar inclusions occur in samples of clay from several local areas.
Colour red, both tiles and bricks are oxidized.
These fabrics not used for pottery.
